AEW Dynamite Viewership Beats WWE NXT In TNT Debut

AEW Dynamite was viewed by an impressive 1.4 million viewers on Wednesday night winning the first night of the Wednesday Night War.

The newly launched show which debuted on TNT was up against WWE NXT on USA Network which was watched by 891,000 viewers, a drop of 11% and down on the previous two episodes on USA Network which pulled in more than a million viewers. NXT was also running limited commercials and a 15 minute overrun, which reportedly will be dropped for next week.

The viewership for AEW is certainly more than most expected, with predictions heading into the show around the 1 - 1.2 million mark.

In addition to this, AEW reportedly drew solid numbers on Playstation Vue and social media. A reply of AEW Dynamite immediately after the live broadcast also drew 423,000 viewers.

WWE today issued a statement congratulating AEW for its successful premiere on TNT, a move they have seldom done in the past with competition.

Things are about to get really interesting...
