Jim Ross Speaks On Owen Hart Nearly Joining WCW

'Good Ol' JR' Jim Ross has said he regrets not putting enough emphasis on signing Owen Hart when the Rocket considered joining WCW in 1990.

Ross, who at the time served on WCW's talent committee, spoke on the latest 'Grilling JR' podcast, and said how plenty of WCW stars knew Owen from his youth, due to working with his father Stu Hart.

He said: "We all knew that Owen was nothing short of fabulous. He was really, really amazing.

"I thought he would’ve been a great champion. There was a lot of things he could’ve done for us.”

Instead, Hart joined the WWF, remaining with the company after the 1997 Montreal Screwjob, until his tragic death at Over the Edge 1999.

When speaking about why Owen joined the WWF instead of WCW, Ross said how Owen's brother Bret could have been a difference-maker.

"That was the perceived big dog like they are now, and Bret [Hart] was there. So, WWE probably gave Owen the opportunities that were probably overdue," he said.

"I don’t think we put enough emphasis on getting him signed to be honest with you."
