New Japan Pro Wrestling on AXS TV Results: 03/06/15

We open with the usual talking segment with a NJPW star, this week it is Shinsuke Nakamura.

We are welcomed in by Mauro Ranallo with Josh Barnett. The three matches this week take place October 14, 2013 from Ryogoku Kokugikan. Yujiro Takahashi makes his way out to the ring. This is the first time we have seen a wrestler come to the ring accompanied by female valets. Barnett mentions Takahashi is making his presence felt in NJPW and the loins of a couple young ladies. His opponent is Tetsuya Naito who comes to the ring with the “Never” Championship.

Before the bell rings Tanahashi runs and drop kicks Naito in his weak knee as the referee calls for the bell.

In the ring Naito is still on the mat and Takahashi picks him up and hits a shin breaker. Takahashi gets a chair and puts it on the injured knee of Naito. He grabs another chair and goes to strike Naito but the referee grabs the chair from him. As Takahashi fights the referee for the chair Naito gets back to his feet and drop kicks the other chair into the face of Takahashi and he rolls out to the floor. Naito throws Takahashi back in the ring as they exchange some blows back and forth. Naito hits a deep arm drag then a hip toss followed by a basement drop kick.

Due to time restraints we move ahead in the match.

 

Naito hits a face plant drop kick over the turnbuckle. Naito hits a neck breaker followed by another, he then hits a kick to the back and Naito gets a two count. Naito puts on a leg nelson submission hold in the center of the ring. Takahashi fights to get to the ropes to break the hold. Naito goes to the top rope but Takahashi chops him down to the ring apron and then kicks him to the floor. Takahashi takes flight and hits a suicide dive thru the ropes and takes out Naito as we go to a break

Commercial:

Back from the break both men are on the top turnbuckle and Takahashi hits a belly-to-belly suplex from the top. Takahashi hits an “Olympic” slam and gets a two count. Naito rolls Tanahashi up and gets a two count. Then they go back and forth move for move with Naito getting the “Puma Blanca” submission on Takahashi who gets to the ropes to break the hold. Naito hits a hurricanrana from the top rope, he then rushes back to the top rope and hits a missile drop kick to the back of Tanahashi, he follows it with a German suplex for a two count. After a great exchange of reversals Takahashi hits a German suplex but only manages the two count. Both men fight back to their feet and Takahashi hits a power bomb into the corner turnbuckle and follows that with a German suplex that he gets a two count with. Naito avoids a roll up and hits a kick to the head of Takahashi. They exchange blows in the center of the ring. Takahashi hits a lariat and gets a two count. Naito hits a jumping elbow then hits the “Dragon” suplex for a two count. Naito hits the “Gloria” then rushes to the top turnbuckle and hits the “Stardust” press which he rolls into the “Puma Blanca” submission and Takahashi taps out.

Winner: Tetsuya Naito

After the match we see Naito talking about his win in the back as we go to a break.

Commercial:

Back from the break we see Shinsuke Nakamura talking about his thoughts on Marufuji.

Back at ringside Ranallo mentions MVP was the first to hold the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Naomichi Marafuji makes his way out to the ring. His opponent is Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Both wrestlers have a stare down in the ring as the referee hold up the Intercontinental Championship. The referee checks both competitors and calls for the bell.

We start with a few minutes of back and forth and mind games as they feel each other out. They have an exchange that the crowd appreciates and cheers. Nakamura finally gets the upper hand with some knees to the mid section. Marufuji fights back and they exchange blows which ends with Marafuji hitting a lariat on Nakamura. Marufuji hits a pile driver on the ring apron as Nakamura falls to the floor we go to a break.

Commercial:

Back from the break Nakamura slides back into the ring and Marufuji attacks him instantly. Marufuji puts some sort of neck vice on Nakamura continuing to work on the neck area. Marufuji continues the assault on the neck of Nakamura. Marufuji places Nakamuras head thru the ring ropes then goes to the outside, he gets a running start and attempts a kick to the head of Nakamura but Nakamura avoids it. Marufuji hits a springboard back cracker and gets a two count. Marufuji applies a chin lock that Nakamura breaks by getting to the ropes. Nakamura hits a kick to the head of Marufuji, and then hits a drop kick. Nakamura hits a series of knees in the corner on Marufuji followed by three running knee lifts; he goes for the cover but only gets a two count. He goes for another cover and gets another two count. Marufuji hits a cartwheel drop kick on Nakamura. Marufuji hits a running elbow which he follows with a snap mare and a running stomp to the head of Nakamura for a two count. Marufuji locks in the Cobra clutch then rolls it into the “Triangle”. Nakamura fights back to his feet, but Marufuji brings him back to the mat. Marufuji hits a “cut throat leg hook belly to back” suplex and gets a two count. Marufuji hits the “flash” kick but misses a move and Nakamura hits a knee. Marufuji hits a spinning kick to the mid section but again misses a move. He gets tied up in the tree of whoa as Nakamura hits some kicks in the corner. Nakamura then hits a back cracker on Marufuji. Nakamura hits a face first slam on Marufuji followed by an attempted “Boma Ye” that Marufuji avoids. Marufuji locks Nakamura into the tree of whoa and goes to the opposite turnbuckle and attempts to kick Nakamura from the other side but Nakamura moves. Nakamura is perched on the top turnbuckle and Marufuji catches him with a drop kick. Both men fight on the top turnbuckle, Nakamura pushes him off and hits the “Boma Ye” from the top rope. Nakamura then rushes in but Marufuji catches him and hits the “Shiranui” and gets a two count. They have some back and forth that Nakamura wins with a spinning heel kick as we go to a break.

Commercial:

Back from the break Nakamura hits a series of kicks followed by some more back and forth that ends with a Marufuji cradle which he gets a two count with. Nakamura hits some kicks then the “Boma Ye” followed by another “Boma Ye” and he gets the pin for the win.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

After the match both wrestlers show their respect with a fist bump. In the back Marufuji says the puzzle between him and Nakamura is not complete yet. We see Nakamura celebrating in the ring. Minoru Suzuki comes to the ring he says Nakamura wants more and so do the fans and he will get them pumped. He says for Nakamura to wrestle him if he loses Nakamura joins the Suzuki Army. Suzuki asks the crowd if they want to see him face Nakamura then he tells Nakamura to take all the time he needs. Nakamura says sorry he wasn’t listening then says just kidding. He asks what he should do it sounds so exciting. He says “of course Yeah-o” and accepts.

We go to a couple of interview segments with Nakamura in which he talks about Marufuji and Suzuki. Ranallo and Barnett give us a quick recap of the night as we go off the air.
